The short version
- Belacsbox is a do-it-yourself website builder. You build and run your site; we provide and maintain the tools.
- 14-day free trial with no card. After that, plans renew automatically until you cancel, and cancelling takes one click.
- Your price does not go up at renewal while your subscription stays active.
- Payments are handled by Paddle.com as merchant of record. Payments are not refundable except where the law requires it and for duplicate charges.
- You own your content. Harmful sites (scams, phishing, abuse) are removed, and we report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
This summary helps you read the terms; the full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Belacsbox Inc. (registered as BELACSBOX INC., Ontario Corporation Number 1001789684), a corporation of Ontario, Canada, operating as Belacsbox ("Belacsbox", "we", "us"). They cover your use of belacsbox.com, our editor app, the websites you publish with us (including addresses on belacsbox.site), and any related service (together, the "Service").
Our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Acceptable Use Policy are part of these Terms. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service for a business or organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account.
- Give accurate information and keep your email address current. We send important notices (renewals, security, policy changes) to it.
- Keep your password safe and turn on any extra sign-in protection we offer. You are responsible for activity under your account, including by editors you invite.
- Owners can invite editors and remove them at any time. Every account is kept separate from every other account; no other customer can see your sites or data.
- Tell us right away at support@belacsbox.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
3. The Service
Belacsbox provides tools to build, publish and host websites yourself: themes, a section editor, pages, a blog, forms, buttons that link to your own payment or booking providers, domain connection, AI writing help and the other features listed on our Features page. We do not build sites for you. We keep improving the Service and may change features over time; we will not remove a core feature you are paying for without telling you in advance by email.
We work to keep the Service available and fast, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may pause parts of it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control.
4. Free trial
- New accounts get a 14-day free trial. We do not ask for payment details to start it, so nothing is charged when it ends.
- During the trial you can publish on a free belacsbox.site address. Some limits are lower during the trial, for example AI allowance and connecting your own domain, to prevent abuse.
- We email you before the trial ends with the end date and the price of each plan.
- If you do not choose a plan, your published site goes offline when the trial ends and your content stays saved for a period stated in your account, so you can pick a plan or export it.
- One free trial per person or business.
5. Plans, billing and Paddle
Our plans and prices are shown on our Pricing page. Prices are in US dollars. Taxes such as GST/HST, sales tax or VAT are added at checkout where the law requires.
Paddle is our reseller. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders: when you buy a Belacsbox plan you buy it from Paddle, which charges you, collects and remits taxes, issues invoices and handles payment questions, refunds and chargebacks. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms. Your card details go to Paddle and never reach us.
Before you pay, the checkout shows the plan, the price, the billing period, the total with tax and the renewal terms, and you confirm that you agree to automatic renewal. We email you a confirmation with these details after you subscribe.
6. Price lock
While your subscription stays active, you renew at the same price you subscribed at, for the same plan and billing period. If we change our prices, the new prices apply only to new subscriptions. This promise ends if your subscription ends (for example, you cancel and the paid period runs out, or payment fails and is not fixed within the grace period), if you switch to a different plan or billing period, or if a tax rate set by law changes, in which case only the tax part changes.
7. Automatic renewal and cancellation
- Renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) and Paddle charges the payment method on file, until you cancel.
- Reminders. For yearly plans we email you 30 days and 7 days before each renewal with the date, the amount and a link to cancel. For monthly plans your receipt shows the next renewal date.
- Cancel in one click. You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan and site stay active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we tell you by email and in your account, and Paddle retries the payment. Your site stays live during a 7-day grace period. If payment is still not made, your site goes offline but your content is kept so you can fix the payment or export it.
8. Refunds
Because the free trial lets you use the Service fully before paying, payments are not refundable, except (a) where the law gives you a right to a refund or to cancel, such as the 14-day withdrawal right for consumers in the EU and UK, and (b) duplicate charges, which we always refund in full. Details are in our Refund Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
9. Fair use limits
Each plan includes the limits shown on the Pricing page, including number of sites, own domains, editors and monthly AI uses. On every plan: up to 5 GB of photos per site, up to 10 MB per photo, and normal small-business website traffic is not metered. These limits keep the Service fast and affordable for everyone. If an account uses the Service in a way that harms its performance for others, we will contact you first, except in an emergency.
10. AI writing help
- The Service includes optional AI writing help. AI text is a suggestion: review it and make sure it is accurate and appropriate before you publish. You are responsible for what you publish, including AI-written text.
- Your plan includes a monthly AI allowance. Past the allowance, AI keeps working in a slower lane; it is never cut off. A published monthly ceiling (600 uses on Personal, 1,600 on Business) prevents abuse. The allowance is per account.
- AI is only for writing content for your own site. It will refuse requests that break our Acceptable Use Policy, such as fake login pages or copying another brand.
- AI text may be labelled as AI-generated in the editor and, where the law requires, marked in your published page's code until you edit it.
- We use Anthropic's Claude models to provide this feature. See our Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.
11. Your content
You own the text, images, files and other material you put on your sites ("Your Content"). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to run, secure and improve the Service for you, including making backups and running safety checks. This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except for backups that expire on their normal schedule and records we must keep by law.
You confirm that you have the rights to Your Content and that publishing it does not break any law or anyone else's rights. Our themes, software, designs and brand remain ours; you may use our themes on sites you build with the Service.
12. Your visitors and your data
When your site collects information from your visitors, for example sign-ups or contact messages, you are responsible for it as the business that collects it, and we process it on your behalf and on your instructions. You agree to:
- tell your visitors how you use their information (a privacy notice on your site);
- get any consent the law requires, including express consent before sending marketing email (our sign-up forms use an unticked consent box for this);
- get consent before turning on analytics that set cookies where the law requires it (our Google Analytics option waits for visitor consent).
As your processor we will: use visitor data only to provide the Service to you; keep it confidential and secure; use only the subprocessors listed in our Privacy Policy and tell you of changes; notify you without undue delay of a breach affecting it; help you answer your visitors' requests; and delete it when you delete it or close your account, subject to backups expiring. We never sell your visitors' data and never send form contents to our AI provider.
13. Rules and enforcement
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We have zero tolerance for scams, phishing, malware, child sexual abuse material and other harmful content. To keep the Service safe, sites are checked before they go live, and links are checked against known-threat lists.
If we find or are told about content that breaks the policy, we may hold a publish for review, take a site offline, or suspend an account. Where we can, and where the law allows, we tell you what we did and why, and how to appeal. For serious or illegal harm we act immediately, and we report to the authorities where the law requires, including reports of child sexual abuse material to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and to police.
14. Copyright complaints
If you believe a site on our Service infringes your copyright, email legal@belacsbox.com with: your contact details; the work you say is infringed; the exact web address of the material; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner, with your signature. Under Canada's notice-and-notice system we forward valid notices to the site owner. We remove material that is clearly infringing, give the site owner a chance to respond, and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
15. Domains
- Connecting a domain you own. You keep your domain with your current provider. You are responsible for its registration, renewal and the DNS records needed to connect it. We set up and renew the SSL certificate for you.
- Free domain. After your first payment on a paid plan you may register one domain through us at no charge for its first year. Domains are registered in your name through our registrar partner and are subject to that registrar's terms and the rules of the domain's registry, including providing accurate contact details and verifying them when asked. You can keep, renew or transfer your domain; we never hold it hostage.
16. Other services you connect
You can connect other services, such as Stripe, PayPal or booking tools through buttons, and Mailchimp, Kit, Google Sheets or webhooks for sign-ups. Those services are provided by their own companies under their own terms. Payments made through those buttons go directly from your visitors to your provider; we never see or handle that money and take no fee. We are not responsible for other services, but we will help you connect them.
17. Export and ending the agreement
- You can export your content and sign-up list at any time while you have access to your account.
- You can close your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the Service. If we stop offering the Service for reasons other than your breach, we will give you at least 30 days' notice to export your content and refund any unused prepaid time.
- After your account closes or your plan ends, we keep your content for a limited time so you can return or export it, then delete it, except where we must keep records by law. Backups expire on their normal schedule.
18. Disclaimers and limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all warranties not stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
To the extent the law allows, neither Belacsbox Inc. nor its directors, employees or suppliers will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.
Some places do not allow these exclusions or limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here limits your rights as a consumer that cannot be waived.
You agree to cover our reasonable losses from third-party claims arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms or the law.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For changes that matter, we email account owners at least 30 days before they take effect and show the date at the top of this page. If you do not agree to a change, you can cancel before it takes effect. A change never takes away your price lock for an active subscription.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard by the courts of Ontario, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep any right to bring a claim in the courts where you live and the protection of the mandatory laws of that place.
Please contact us first; most problems can be solved by email.
